Creative Work on the Highest Shopping Mall at Resorts World Genting, Malaysia

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Aalborg White® cement based rectangular terrazzo picnic bench, terrazzo outdoor stool, round terrazzo picnic table, GRC ping pong table and large round planter were among the 2018’s inspiring yet creative work from Quirk & Associates Sdn. Bhd.The architecture and interior design firm has taken up the challenge to give a new setting to the exterior rooftop of High Line Rooftop Market which is located at SkyAvenue, one of the highest shopping malls in Malaysia sited at Resorts World Genting. The resort, originally known as Genting Highlands Resort is an integrated hill resort development comprising hotels, shopping malls, theme parks and casinos, perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali at 1,800 meters high and nestled near the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor in Malaysia. The cement-based furniture is appealingly pleasing yet idiosyncratic in an outdoor environment. To achieve the terrazzo surface finishes, the products which are casted with Aalborg White® cement for about 50mm to 70mm thickness are chemically cleaned and polished with diamond pad till to the desired shine and level of reflectivity.
