Nanchang Wave is a landscape-based community center with a varied program forming the heart of a large residential development. Nanchang Waves derives its concept from the surrounding waterscapes. The viewing tower and surrounding public realm creates versatile and welcoming spaces that enhances and connects the urban context to the natural landscape of the region. Included in Nanchang Waves are arenas for events, cafés, galleries and urban agriculture gardens for the neighborhood schools.
The project facade is composed of 657 GRC double curve claddings. The high quality GRC facade produced with Aalborg White® Cement gives the building its dynamic beauty. The white, non-linear tower embodies the simplicity of Nordic architecture with textured concrete facade allows the whole project to be perfectly integrated with surroundings natures. Standing at the 33-meter-high cloud tower, you will have a wonderful spatial experience that double helix structure towards the wetland area gives 360 degrees overview of the neighborhood.
The 8.5m cantilevered triangular truss is the most difficult part of the cladding installation. The triangular truss can only be positioned in the air with only operating platform as the supporting position, which lead to the large difficulty in truss placement.
The construction team carried in place by car crane, and the bracket was welded for temporary fixation. The tail position adopted the total station for measuring points, and then carried on the manual tension for accurate positioning and welding.
The building with high quality GRC facade echoes the sky, clouds and sunshine, attracting many domestic visitors, becoming the landmark building in China.
