PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The museum opened to the public on 28 March 2019. The Qatar National Museum is designed by the award-winning architect, Jean Nouvel. The building complex is inspired by the desert rose and consist of numerous interlocking discs. Total discs are created from giant steel structures cladded with Contec high performance concrete(HPC) facade elements and 20% of AALBORG WHITE® cement were used in the HPC façade production. The discs function as roofs, walls, floors and terraces. The facade elements all vary in size, shape and expression, which makes the facades an exceptional concrete puzzle.
